A beautiful World War documentary featuring the old house of the Fiel Family. Gusto ko pumunta dito, actually.
But i was alarmed because one of the comments the video received on youtube was that "unya gub on lang sa widening wala gani na guba sa gira."
Our family name, one filled with pride, carries the history of generations gone by. For those who have lived and those not yet born, our name strong and proud, forever lives on...

MY JOURNEY TO SIBONGA, CEBU
MALAKAS lang talaga ang loob ko! Since I started my interest in family tree, I have always heard about Sibonga, Cebu. Sabi ng mga relatives ko and my lolo, dito daw nakatira ang lolo ng lolo ko or my great-great grandfather, Elias Fiel.
After the Fiel Clan Reunion in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, I went to Cebu to search for my roots before going to Zamboanga for my mission area (pari po kasi ako di ba?).
From Cebu City, malapit lang pala ang Sibonga. Wala akong kakilala doon but I was confident na pagdating ko doon, madali lang mahanap ang mga Fiel na nakatira doon. And yes, I was not wrong...
And guess what, pagdating ko sa munisipyo, ito ang nakita ko kaagad!!! There is a Fiel employee in the land of my grandfathers...
Not only that, when I went to Guimbangco-an, the particular barrio in Sibonga na talagang pinagmulan ni Lolo Elias, ito ang tumambad sa akin sa pinakabungad: the barangay captain was Retche Fiel. Kamag-anak! Hehehe.
Hinanap ko ang bahay ni Retche Fiel and ito na nga po siya. His father was born on 1937. I was able to talk to him. His father was right, di na niya naabutan si Elias Fiel and his sons and daughters. They moved to Mindanao in the early 30's. My lolo Lope Fiel moved to Davao in 1932 to look for greener pastures and the year after, dinala na niya ang kanyang mga kapatid. So, hindi na sila nagpang-abot ng father ni Retche. But I still would like to talk personally to his father this August. Sa phone lang kasi nagkausap...

FIEL CLAN RESIDENCE IN DAVAO
I have been wondering what moved many of my Fiel ancestors to leave Sibonga, Cebu before the Second World War and go to the unfamiliar pastures of Mindanao. I noticed that most of the Fiel from Mindanao are from the line of Elias Fiel.
The missing link remains: where are now the descendants of Isaac Fiel, the only brother of Elias? Where did they settle? Did they go to Leyte or Samar or remained in Cebu?
Most of the old Fiel residences in Davao are two-storeys. Our present home in Kiblawan is also the same. Feautured here is the house of the brother of my lolo Feliciano Fiel, Lope Fiel.

This is the wedding picture of Lolo Lope Fiel and Lola Julie Cudera. Sana magkaroon tayo ng Fiel Museum so we could preserve our common heritage...

This is Lolo Lope's residence since 1930 in Dapok, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur. I had beautiful memories of this house. When I was still in elementary (1988-1994), I usually had my lunch here together with my cousins. Few years ago, the Fiel Clan reunion was held here. I remember Fiel clan from Gensan also came...
***

Lolo Lope died on January 2, 2009. This is Lola Julie with her grandson and my second cousin, Jaime Fiel Talaugon.
Siguro sa side ni Lolo Lope ako pinakamaraming second cousins kasi ang dami nilang anak ni Lola Julie, hehe. Marami ring mga twins na naproduce ang kanilang bloodline...

FIEL FAMILY ANCESTRAL HOUSE???

I was web surfing about fiel clan one afternoon when a link lead me to this picture posted at the panoramio website with the description that this is an ancestral house of the Fiel Clan. This house can be found in Can-adieng, Ormoc, Leyte. Do you have any idea who owns this house?
