By this time you found this blog, you might wonder how come the Fiel Clan are so scattered all over the Philippines, and yet all of us believed that all Fiel in the Philippines are all related in blood.
Not only that.
We may not be able to provide exact answers but our theories may prove to patch up little by little the big puzzling picture...
Ayon kay Felicisimo Fiel na nasa Cebu ngayon, "my father told me that my great2x grandfather have 18 brothers when the world war came they were scattered or separated by situation i think that the reason why our surename FIEL are scattered all over the Philippines and the world as well."
Richard Fiel also attempted to explain the Fiel diaspora, "history sa ako lolo ngano abot sila sa mindanao sa buhi pa siya Strikto kuno kaayo ilang Father tungod kay katsila kuno ang batasan ,mao nilayas sila sa Leyte gidala niya iyang mga igsoon
sa mindanao..."
Those from Angeles City as well as Bulacan believed that the Fiel reached the island of Luzon because of work-related phenomenon. Many of their great grandfathers were soldiers from Cebu...
On my part, I believed many Fiel left Cebu before and after the World War II to look for greener pastures. The family of Julian Fiel, my great grandfather and perhaps all his sons and daughters settled in Davao and Zamboanga, bought lands to cultivate...kaya naman ang mga Fiel sa Davao daghan ug mga yuta...hehe.
Tito Fiel of Misamis Occidental narrated to me that his lolo was from Cebu. He shared a very interesting anecdote. Before the Word War II, the family of his lolo also went to Mindanao. Unfortunately, one of their brothers rode the wrong bus: he arrived not in Mindanao, but in Leyte.
Sucylin Fiel - Vero also provided an interesting anecdote: "At age 5 to 7, there was an old man in our house and my parents told me he was my lolo "Kulas Fiel" a brother of my lolo Victor and lola Leyang. All I can remember was he came from the US at doon siya nagkalat ng lahi niya esp in Hawaii & California. Wanna know how were he able to go to the US? Sumakay daw siya ng barko na biyaheng Hawaii at nagtago sa loob ng malalaking kaldero. Nasa laot na ng ma discover ng crew, so ginawa na lang siya helper sa kitchen. Then he worked with pineapple plantation in Hawaii. Then he moved to California. When he came home 1 na lang ang naging anak niya dito sa Pilipinas. Who knows? baka mga anak niya yong mga Fiel in other countries."
How about you, how can you explain the Fiel diaspora?
Our family name, one filled with pride, carries the history of generations gone by. For those who have lived and those not yet born, our name strong and proud, forever lives on...

FIEL FAMILY AND THE WORlD WAR
It is very nice to sit before our Fiel elders and listen to their stories. One Saturday morning, I took the challenge of visiting Sr. Milagros Fiel of the Blue Sister’s Covent in Poinsettia, Quezon City.
We first talked about her roots of which she shared that her grandfather is named Simplicio Fiel from Ormoc. Her lolo Simplicio married twice.
Of the first marriage, Simplicio had two sons: Agido Fiel and Agaton Fiel.
Of the second marriage, Sr. Milagros could only remember Tiyo Patro and Atty. Oscar.
Sr. Milagros shared that her father, Agaton Fiel married Emiliana Tan. She described her father Agaton as “studious and a brilliant editor of a Spanish paper.” He was a valedictorian in San Beda. He was also under the Jesuits during his pre-law years but he finished law in UST under the Dominicans.
1. Antonio Fiel -- not married, an engineer. He was taken by the Japanese during the World War II and he was never seen again. Ito ang nangyari: When McArthur landed in Leyte, all were very enthusiastic. When he was caught having an earphone, he was captured by the Japanese. Sr. Milagros believed her brother was brought to the Fort Santiago.
2. Josefina Fiel – a.k.a Sister Anne Fiel of the Religious of the Good Shepherd (RGS). She is now based in Katipunan Road, malapit sa Ateneo de Manila.
3. Natividad Fiel – died in an accident in the States.
4. Milagros Fiel – the one I interviewed
5. Charlie/Carlos Fiel – studied in Ateneo de Manila University; worked as PR in Makati. He is the father of the freelance writer Corito Fiel. He was known for his writings “Playing Poker with God” and “Blue Lady.” He was a “dormant genius” according to Sister Milagros. He died in Canada.
6. Celina Fiel – a.k.a. Sister Teresita of the Religious of the Good Shepherd. She is now in St. Bridget School in Batangas. Good in writing.
WORLD WAR STORY
One night during the World War II, they heard a knock at around ten in the evening. The Japanese came and asked them to surrender their radio. Agaton Fiel’s Family had already given the radio earlier to another family, so wala na silang maipakita. The Japanese soldiers asked Agaton to go with them. The family members were already crying.
At the end of the staircase, the Sacred Heart of Jesus was hanging and when the Japanese passed by there, Emiliana Tan (the wife of Agaton Fiel) asked the soldiers if they could pray first as a family. “Because we are Catholics,” Emiliana asserted.
The Japanese consented. That was December 6. The family prayed hard for a miracle since the following day would be the birthday of their father Agaton.
After the prayer, the family members kissed their father goodbye. And indeed the miracle happened. The Japanese soldiers decided not to take Agaton Fiel with them anymore…
ADDITIONALS:

4. Carlos Fiel Jr. (???)
5. “Lilo” Fiel – she finished fine arts daw

FIEL CLAN RESIDENCE IN DAVAO
I have been wondering what moved many of my Fiel ancestors to leave Sibonga, Cebu before the Second World War and go to the unfamiliar pastures of Mindanao. I noticed that most of the Fiel from Mindanao are from the line of Elias Fiel.
The missing link remains: where are now the descendants of Isaac Fiel, the only brother of Elias? Where did they settle? Did they go to Leyte or Samar or remained in Cebu?
Most of the old Fiel residences in Davao are two-storeys. Our present home in Kiblawan is also the same. Feautured here is the house of the brother of my lolo Feliciano Fiel, Lope Fiel.
This is the wedding picture of Lolo Lope Fiel and Lola Julie Cudera. Sana magkaroon tayo ng Fiel Museum so we could preserve our common heritage...
***
This is Lolo Lope's residence since 1930 in Dapok, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur. I had beautiful memories of this house. When I was still in elementary (1988-1994), I usually had my lunch here together with my cousins. Few years ago, the Fiel Clan reunion was held here. I remember Fiel clan from Gensan also came...
***
Lolo Lope died on January 2, 2009. This is Lola Julie with her grandson and my second cousin, Jaime Fiel Talaugon.
